The Rough Get Going
August 6, 2009
Just one day before opening, and a core band of artists are flat out adding the finishing touches to Rough Cut Nation. The most intense, experimental installation any of us have been involved in, the process has forced and encouraged every one of us to attempt new art production techniques.
With ideas for new additions to the installation still being discussed and argued over, we are reacting to the space and each others work in the same way in which we interact with our built environment and the images and obstacles found there.
From experiments with UV paint and the angels of death metal appearing over hoodie Jesus’ shoulder, this is exactly how we intended the work to develop and the creation of this fertile creative environment is more important than the work itself. Of course, we’re also having a great deal of fun doing it – although it has to be said that we’re all looking forward to relaxing with you all at the opening night tomorrow (Friday 7th) from 6-9pm. It’s definitley going to be a pretty lively night, featuring a specially arranged set by DJ A La Fu and live music from Tut VuVu (check out the videos in my last post for a sneak preview), so make sure you don’t miss it!
