Stirred, not shaken
I gave a “lunch-time” lecture on progress inside the Portrait Gallery recently, adopting much the same method as I do here, which is to say idly to let the pictures tell the story. I was a bit nervous that some of the audience might be shaken by the radical events taking place inside the well-loved building but was pleased to find no such thing – just interest and enthusiasm.
So here again are some pictures:
A view from the new mezzanine (suspended steelwork)
We now have a new roof at the west end
A mucky job ground floor slab being poured
The library looks well in its new location – a 3D jigsaw puzzle. I will try to estimate how many pieces…
New roof-lights – good strong glass you will note
“I’ll take twa flakes, mister.” Sandy Cameron, Clerk of Works in his new cabin with a view of the interior
