Ladies and Gentlemen, James Watt has left the Building
Welcome to Heads Up! In the next few months I’m going to be helping you keep up to date with Portrait of the Nation, our project, and the people involved. Stick with me and you’ll meet some of the characters involved and hear what we are doing to transform the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
For those who don’t know the Gallery yet, we occupy a wonderful Arts and Crafts building in central Edinburgh. Portrait of the Nation is our great project to give us increased space, better services and more visitors.
Although our doors are now closed, a lot is happening inside. As well as preparing brand new displays and exhibitions for our reopening in November 2011, we have been watching historical portraits and sculptures, being moved out to their new storage home for the next two years – one of the most poignant moments so far for me has been watching James Watt get boxed up for his hiatus.
To see more inside stories from the Portrait Gallery – and much more – keep watching this blog and don’t forget that we want to hear from you!
